GENERAL FATTY VOLUNTEER:
These volunteers are spot workers that help during the festival. Usually the burden is 30 min. to a couple hours. Jobs are something like course marshalling, water station, parking volunteer etc. You will receive a free Fatty Fest Shirt and free camping and access to the volunteer hospitality tents.
SUPER FATTY VOLUNTEER (Build with PTD & Race Free!):
- Trail Work: this work takes place well before the festival. Work includes prepping trails, set-up of tents & finish line, gathering resources, etc. Work takes place for 4 hours in the morning before trail rides and meetings.
- Complete 8 hours of trail work on any of the organized dates listed below and race in one discipline for free!

•June 3, 2010 • Leave a CommentTo Eureka Springs; Eureka Springs is located in the Northwest part of the state on hwy. 62 E/W and 23 N/S. It is approximately 1 hour to the east of Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale AR. It is approximately 2 hours from Springfield MO and Tulsa OK.
To the City Auditorium (Sunday Morning XC Registration); From the junction of highway 62 and 23 in Eureka Springs (downtown entrance), take highway 23 north into downtown, (AKA Planer Hill or Mud Street) approximately 1/2 mile. The race start and registration will be on you right next to the city auditorium. Follow sings to parking and shuttle areas.
To Lake Leatherwood City Park Main Park Facility (Camping & Lake); From Eureka Springs follow 62 west for approximately 2 miles to the entrance to Lake Leatherwood City Park, on the right. Pull into the second park entrance and follow the road for approximately one mile to the parking and shuttle areas.
To Lake Leatherwood Ball Fields (Adventure Subaru Hospitality Tent, DH Finish/Registration, Shuttle Location, XC Finish, Children’s Race, & Final Awards Ceremony); From Eureka Springs follow 62 west for approximately 2 miles to the entrance to Lake Leatherwood City Park, on the right. Pull into the first park entrance (sports fields for parking and staging for event.
To Achord’s MX Track (“Phat Tire Short Track”); Follow 23 North out of Eureka Springs for approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto hwy. 187 and follow it for 1 miles to a small one lane bridge. The MX track is immediately on your left after the bridge. Follow signs for parking.
To Harmon Park (Adventure Subaru Hospitality Tent at Harmon, Observed Trials Registration, & Black Bass Ride); From the junction of highway 62 and 23 in Eureka Springs (downtown entrance), take highway 23 north (AKA Planer Hill or Mud Street) into downtown. at approximately 1/2 mile, turn left on Spring Street. Inn of the Ozarks
Fatty Fest Host Hotels:
- Inn of the Ozarks – We will be having our Saturday night registration and social at the Inn of the Ozarks. Located across the street from the Eureka Springs High School on hwy. 62. Modern Hotel with Pool, entertainment center, restaurant and very clean rooms. It is riding and walking distance from Black Bass City Park, Downtown and Harmon Park. Phone: 800-814-8307.
- Tall Pines Inn – The cabins are located at the junction of highway 62 and Pivot Rock Rd. It is only 1/2 mile from Harmon Park, 1.5 miles from the downtown XC start, and 2 miles from Lake Leatherwood. It features well-shaded cabins with kitchenettes, has a pool and is owned and operated by mountain bikers. Phone: 479-253-8096.
- Pine Lodge – The Pine Lodge has 6 cabins and 6 suites, some with hot tubs and spas. Located on highway 62 the motel is only a five minute drive away from Lake Leatherwood, Harmon Park and the historic downtown area. Phone: 479-253-8065.
- Quality Inn & Suites – Offers a discounted rate of $95/nt for anyone attending the event. They also have nice rooms that open into one of the few indoor pools in Eureka with kids “dive-in” movie nights (those rooms are a bit more, but worth it for the pool). Phone: 479 -253-5040
Camping & RV:
- KOA – Located on hwy 187 on the way to Beaver Dam the KOA offers camping, RV sites, swimming pool and bathhouse. Only 5 minute drive from Lake Leatherwood and Beaver Dam. CALL FOR RATES: 479-253-8036.
- Lake Leatherwood – Camping is available on-sight at Lake Leatherwood City Park. Bath house and bath rooms on sight. No electrical hook-ups or RV sites available. Camping is first come first serve. CALL FOR RATES: 479-253-7921
- King’s River Outfitters – Located 15 minutes south of Eureka Springs off of Rockhouse Road on the Kings River, this is a full service canoe outfitters. Only 5 minutes from Madison County Wildlife Management area and dozens of miles of trail. CALL FOR RATES: 479-253-8954.
- Beaver Lake State Park – Several public campgrounds are available on Beaver Lake. (10 minutes from Lake Leatherwood).
- Madison County Wildlife Management Area – Located 20 minutes south of Eureka Springs on Hwy. 23 or Rockhouse Road, the Madcow, as it is fondly known offers free primitive camping and is host to dozens of miles of trails and forest roads and beautiful back country.
