Friday

7:15 pm       Kid’s Short Track Race / Achord’s MX Track in Elk Ranch: This race is awesome. Two laps around a .45 mile flat track. Smooth dirt and grassy edges make for a safe fun time. Three different age groups: 6 and under, 7-8 and 9-10.  Coolest of all, you can see the whole course from one spot. This was the highlight of the kids events last year. Also at the short track are a costume single speed event with prizes for best costume, and children’s fee based sanctioned competitive events. Ribbons for all the kids and trophies for top three. Awards immediately following the event.

Saturday

10 am             Kid’s Fun Ride / Lake Leatherwood Ball Fields / Adventure Subaru Kid’s Tent: Bring any child to this ride. The Ball field complex offers a ½ mile paved trail for tykes and first time riders that is smooth, easy riding with no hills. Even keep the training wheels on. After a tour of the trail a local guide will take the kids head down the Leatherwood Trail. This 1 mile trail is also very level with only 20 feet of elevation gain and loss. The ride will travel to the main park complex where there will be a turn around point.  For those wanting a little more challenge the ride will take the Beecham trail an additional 2 miles to the Dam where we will ride across and return via the same route. Total mileage from start to finish for complete ride is 6 miles. Estimated time of ride is 30-1.5 hours depending on length of ride attempted. Parents or guardians are encouraged to accompany riders under the age of 10. This ride will put kids in the general vicinity of the Downhill finish line, skills course and kids games offering a great morning of fun on and off the bike.

11 am              Skills Course Opens / Lake Leatherwood Ball Fields / Adventure Subaru Kid’s Tent: This is where the fun will be. The Adventure Subaru Kid’s tent will offer fun for kids of all ages. The Skills Course will be a collection of routes on wooden manmade features. Imagine a little Freeride park for kids. Most all of these features will be ground level and offer kids the chance to get comfortable rolling over curb size and height logs, ladder bridges, and ramps in a grassy obstacle free environment. Great fun and super for skills. The course will be open 11am-2pm.

12 noon         Kid’s Fun Ride / Black Bass Lake: Athough this trail has quite a bit more to chew on than our other Children’s Ride, a great deal of the trail is still well within range of any child with a bike. The ride will conist of one (or more or less) laps around Black Bass Lake. The start will entail climbing a short hill that will be a challenge for all kids (hill can be by passed by a short 100 yard shuttle to top parking lot). After that a 1/4 mile, eight foot wide surfaced flat trail will offer plenty of recovery. The ride tackles two very nice bridges at the half way point. Riders can turn back or try the more curvy chalenging single track on the other side of the lake or turn back. A tight steep descent brigs the ride to a close. (Some riders may choose to and or should walk the downhill). Parents and shaperones ecouraged. Great lake side riding. Very smooth and just the right amount of challenge for more skilled children bikers. If that still doesn’t satisfy more difficult trail can be had on the Bluff Trail or the new Oil Springs Trail. This ride will take between 30min. to an hour depending on length attempted.
